Scared Stiff

Scared Stiff, an entry for the MAMA art contest. MAMA is a Spanish horror film presented by Guillermo del Toro and looks to be another solid foreign horror production. The contest asks artists to draw on their own childhood nightmares, so my entry depicts a very real childhood fright of mine. I always hated having my feet near the edge of the bed in fear of a monster grabbing me. Painted in Photoshop blended with some photo resources taken from my son’s room.

A sketch of the character Gilroy, inked by me based on original art by Conrad Keely of the great Austin band …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead. I’ve been commissioned to help him out on his upcoming illustrated novel Strange News From Another Planet: The Voyages Of The Festival Thyme.

Clive Barker’s Odyssey II

A painting inspired by Clive Barker’s collaboration project Odyssey II. I was rushed with the original submission, which was in color, but it was one of those things that simply did not turn out well. I decided to go back and polish it up and convert it to black and white, which makes it look somewhat decent. The bizarre imagery makes more sense if you actually read the story, but its Barker so you know what to expect.
