Introduction
Westside followed Athena as my second major professional comic project. Living in Texas, I've always thought the idea of an Asian gunslinger would be a cool concept for a story. Antarctic Press approached me and not only offered to publish the book in color, but also to include a CD soundtrack to go along with it... Well that was an offer that I couldn't refuse. Having played in bands for years, it was always a dream to be able to write music to accompany my comics. I wrote and recorded several theme songs for the CD, and recruited other band friends to contribute songs as well. I was very happy with the final result, both the comics and the CD are some of my best work to date. I originally had a much longer story planned, including Ash's origin from the East and a conflict surrounding the treatment of the Chinese during the building of the railroads. Of course, the cold fact of page count simply didn't allow for it. Ah well, maybe there will be a sequel one of these days...
